We are pleased to announce ICEST2023, the International Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science and Technology for Sustainable Development. The conference will be held in Male’, Maldives from 15th November to 17th November 2023. It is organized and supported by the Maldives National University.
The aim of the conference is to bring together experts and share the Innovations in Engineering, Science and Technology for Sustainable Development. It will provides a premier platform for researchers,, academic scientists, and research scholars to present their recent innovations and discuss the recent trends in the field of engineering, science and technology towards sustainable development.

Vijay K. Arora, a tenured Professor of Electrical Engineering and Physics at Wilkes University with Ph.D. from
the University of Colorado, held distinguished visiting appointments at the University of Illinois, the University of Tokyo, National University
of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Western Australia, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
At UTM, he was honored as Brain Gain Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia for research at UTM Ibnu Sina Institute of Fundamental Sciences.
In addition to his long-term visiting appointments, Professor Arora has visited several international institutions on short-term consulting assignments
and enjoys the privilege of knowing the cultures and educational methods being practiced around the globe. In recognition of his research, he is invited
to give presentations at several international scientific gatherings. His research interests include nanoelectronics, engineering management and global
educational paradigms.
Professor Arora has authored or co-authored over 250 papers on scientific, educational, and management issues.
He chaired EScienceNano2012, NanoTechMalaysia2010 NanoSingapore2006, and ASEE Mid-Atlantic Conference1996. Professor Arora is on the Distinguished Lecturer

Professor Hassan Ugail is the director of the Centre for Visual Computing at the University of Bradford in the UK. He is a renowned computer scientist in the area of visual computing and artificial intelligence (AI). He is an advocate of AI for helping to tackle real world issues in the areas of digital health, innovative engineering, and sustainable societies in general. More specifically, he works in the area of human biometrics, especially the development of cutting edge AI solutions for biometric face recognition and analysis. His work in this area includes helping to unravel the real identity of the two Russian spies at the heart of the Salisbury Novichok poisoning case - one of the biggest international stories of 2018.
DR. S. Suresh Babu is a Professor and the Head of Department of Civil Engineering and Dean (Research and Development) at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Anna University, Hosur, Tamilnadu, India. He has a PhD in soil structure Interaction from National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka, India. Prof. Suresh Babu has been a member of Project Evaluation Committee for LiDAR Technology 2015 - Dubai, a member delegate, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India for “DST - Lockheed Martin, India Innovation Growth Programme” 2013 - USA, A Chair Person for the International Engineering Symposium held at Kumamoto University – 2013 - Japan and has also visited several other institutions on professional assignments. Prof. Suresh Babu is a fellow of Institute of Engineers (India) and Indian Geotechnical Society. As a Principal Investigator, Prof. Suresh Babu has completed a number of projects funded by different Institutions and Ministries of Government of India. He is also a chief incubation officer of Technology Business Incubator. Prof. Suresh Babu has also been a consultant for ISO 9001-2000, National Board of Accreditation, A.I.C.T.E. and Program Evaluator for National Board of Accreditation India. Prof. Suresh Babu has been teaching at several Universities for almost 3 decades, his research interest includes soil structure interaction, foundations on weak deposits, ground improvement techniques etc., Prof. Suresh Babu has over 100 papers on the different issues related to soil and foundations.
Dr. Hiram Ponce, Universidad Panamericana, Mexico is Head of Research and Ph.D. Coordinator in Artificial Intelligence for the School of Engineering at Universidad Panamericana (Mexico), and he is the leader and principal investigator of the research group "Computational Intelligence and Vision" in the same institution. He graduated in Mechatronics Engineering at Tecnologico de Monterrey (Mexico), obtained a Master’s in Science Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in the same university. He is a member of the National System of Researchers rank level 1 of the National Council of Science and Technology (Mexico). He is the author of more than 120 international journal and conference publications, 8 book chapters, and 4 books in the area of artificial intelligence and robotics. He authored a novel machine learning-based method namely Artificial Hydrocarbon Networks. He is Secretary of the Mexican Society for Artificial Intelligence, an IEEE senior member, an INNS senior member, a member of the Technical Committee on Neural Networks in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, a member of the Technical Committee on Robotics and Mechatronics in the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), a member of the International Neural Networks Society, among other memberships. He was awarded a Google Research Award for Latin America in 2017. He has served as guest editor in different special issues of top-tier journals. He is currently an Associate Editor in IEEE Access, Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Technology, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, and Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence.
Dr H Hameed is the present Chancellor of the Maldives National University. Since 1998, first as the Principal, then as the Rector and Vice Chancellor, he led the development of the higher education sector in the Maldives through numerous initiatives till date. A person of varied interests and curiosities, the public best knows him by his writing..
Bakhtiar Ul Haq, completed his Ph.D from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia. The title of his thesis was Structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors based on Transition metals doped ZnO. He has received several honors and awards including Brain Pool Fellowship by National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Korea, “Outstanding Researcher Award” by the Deanship of Scientific Research in King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia, Chancellor Award in University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) 54th convocation ceremony for excellent performance in Ph.D, Best Student Award by School of Graduate Studies, UTM for excellent performance in Ph.D. International Doctoral Fellowship (IDF) by UTM, Junior Research Fellowship at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University Teknologi Malaysia. He has worked as Junior Research Fellow (Spring 2014 - Fall 2014). He has also worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), South Korea from Spring 2015 to Fall 2015. He was an Assistant professor of Physics at King Khalid University (KKU), Saudi Arabia from September 2016 - July 2022. Currently he is an NRF invited Scientist, Faculty of Science Education Jeju National University (JNU), South Korea.
Yogeendra R H is an Assistant Professor in Government Engineering College, Haveri, Karnataka, India. He is pursuing his PhD under Quality Improvement Programme in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. He received this Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru College of Engineering, Ranebennur, and Karnataka, India. He did his Master’s in Computer-Aided Design of Structures from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, Karnataka, India. His area of interests includes experimental and analytical investigation of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures.
Prof. Dr Muhammad Mahadi’s main contributions are in the field of medical electronics engineering, bioelectronics, biosensors, biomedical engineering, rehabilitation monitoring device, remote and online monitoring device for rehabilitation, telemedicine, wireless monitoring device, sports performance & technology, forensic image processing, high & low voltage pulse electric field exposure on biological cell, electroporation, cell imaging, cell guidance, cell/protein attachment, cell surface interface, wound healing, anti-cancer/natural (animal & plant) based compound, drug dose response on cell, micro-fabrication/micro-contact printing. To date he has a strong external networking for research and development of which he has already established collaborative projects at local and international level. Dr. Muhammad Mahadi has external appointments such as Visiting Professor-Abu Bakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria, Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA, Malaysia and Honorary Visiting Researchers - University of Bradford, United Kingdom. Other than that, he has successfully supervised 7 PhD and 7 master by research students. Currently he has 5-PhD and 3 master by research students. His supervisees include international students from Libya, Algeria, Pakistan, Yemen, Maldives and Nigeria. The candidate has secured National research grants from Ministry of Education Malaysia (Fundamental Grants & Prototype Grant) and locally at UTHM level (Contract & Postgraduate Research Grant). Dr. Muhammad Mahadi is also actively publishing his research findings and to date he has a total of over 150 publications in refereed/indexed journals, book chapter, lecture notes, conference proceedings, scientific magazine and research book. He also has 3 patents granted as the outcome from his research activities.
We invite original and unpublished research work to the 1st International Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science and Technology for Sustainable Development (ICEST2023). All submitted papers/abstracts will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. ICEST2023 will employ double-blind review process for all submitted papers and abstracts. All accepted papers from the main tracks will be invited for oral presentation at the conference and will be submitted to AIP Conference Proceedings for publication (indexed in ).
All accepted papers from the special track on environemntal sustainability will be invited for oral presentation at the conference and will be submitted for publication in indexed journal (Journal will be announced soon).
All accepted abstracts will be invited for oral presentation and published in conference abstract book with an associated ISBN number.
Prospective authors are invited to submit unpublished and original full research papers which are not submitted or under consideration elsewhere.
All authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original except for copyrighted works (including illustrations, tables, animations and text quotations) which may be included with the permission of the copyright holder.
The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and agree on its submission for publication.
All the accepted papers must accompany a copyright release form signed by at least one author for each paper (Attach the copyright form separately during camera-ready submission).
All submitted papers must be related to the main topic of the conference and conference main tracks and all accepted papers must be presented at the conference.
All submitted papers will be double blind peer reviewed by 2-3 reviewers and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability.
Only manuscripts submitted via the online submission system (Microsoft CMT) will be considered for review. Authors can check the status of the review process using this submission system. Once papers are accepted, a registration link will be provided for the authors to register for the conference.

All submissions must be written in English using AIP Conference Proceeding templates adhering to the AIP Guidelines(link) to prepare your manuscript.
In order to ensure double blind review process is practiced, authors are requested make their identity undiscoverable when preparing the manuscript for submission to review. In this regard, please omit authors’ names and affiliations from your title page (or list them as “omitted for submission”), and when you cite your own work, refer to it in the third person. Also, be sure not to include any acknowledgments that would disclose your identity.
Once the submitted manuscript is accepted for presentation and publication, authors are required to submit revised versions of their papers according to the reviewer’s remarks.
Authors are required add any information or parts which was removed during initial submission for review such as author information and acknowledgment if any.
Authors are required to submit full paper in MS-Word (docx./doc.) format prepared in accordance with the AIP Conference Template .

Abstract should be within a word limit of 200 to 250 words and can be submitted using the same submission system and authors are not required to maintain double blind peer review practice.
Awards will be given under four different categories to the most outstanding researchers of the conference. The purpose of these Awards are to recognize and promote quality contributions to academic research among scholars and students who present and publish papers at the ICIEST-2023 conference. All awards will be presented to the winners on the last day of conference during the closing ceremony.
For this award, all the accepted papers are evaluated by the special committee and considering the reviews received for each paper, an overall best paper is selected based on the following criteria.
This award will be given to the most outstanding presentation presented by a participant from student category based on the following criteria.
For this award best presentation from each session are selected based on the session evaluators marks and final decision is made by the special committee to select overall best paper presentation award based on the following criteria.
For this award, all the research papers that reported an innovation for sustainable development will be evaluated by the special committee and an overall best innovation will be selected based on the following criteria.
